RAIDER ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to Tate Van Beek and Maya Khachikian for being chosen as Stevens Raiders “Athlete of the Week!”
Tate Van Beek (Track and Field): Tate delivered one of the most impressive performances of the meet at March Mayhem, winning the 800 meters in an outstanding early-season time of 2:00.34. He led an incredible Stevens sweep, with five Raiders finishing in the top five and all running under 2:10—a testament to both his performance and leadership within the group. Tate is a three-sport athlete (cross country, basketball, and track) and is widely recognized as one of the hardest workers on the team. He leads by example every day, whether it’s during workouts, competitions, or in the small things that often go unnoticed. Tate is always willing to serve his team, consistently helping with team camp setup and cleanup, carrying equipment, and stepping in wherever needed without being asked.
He represents everything we value in our program—work ethic, humility, leadership, and a team-first attitude—making him a highly deserving candidate for Athlete of the Week.
Maya Khachikian (Track and Field): Maya had an outstanding start to her season at the March Mayhem meet, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (15.66) in a very competitive race. She also placed 3rd in the 100-meter dash, contributing to a dominant sprint group that included three of the top four finishers. Maya is a key member of last year’s state record 4x100 relay team, and she is already showing that same high level of performance early this season. What makes Maya especially deserving of this recognition goes beyond her results. She trains year-round as she is fully committed to her development, consistently putting in the work both in and out of season to improve. In addition to her success on the track, Maya is an excellent student who represents Stevens High School with character, integrity, and discipline in everything she does.
